Big news: Pocket NC Company is now Penta Machine Company

We’re the same great team, making the same powerful machines and software — and we’re thrilled to announce our new name and fresh look.

Penta Machine Company is on a mission to advance 5-axis manufacturing by removing the barriers between design and production. We create innovative, approachable, and powerful CNC milling solutions that help startups, thinkers, and makers everywhere — from the lab and classroom to the home shop — bring their big ideas to life.

Since our start in 2011, when husband and wife engineer team Matt and Michelle Hertel created the Pocket NC in a backyard shed, we’ve been dedicated to advancing the spirit of innovation — through our products, and for our customers.

That means we’re always looking for ways to do things differently — to do things better. That means expanding our line of machines and moving the Pocket NC machines under a bigger brand umbrella.

And, we are expanding our product lines with that same “see the need, create the solution” mindset, exploring better software, automation-ready capabilities, and enhanced ease of use in nearly any space.

Our lineup is growing — from the original Pocket NC and user-friendly Kinetic Control software, look for more (and “bigger”) creations from us soon.

So whether you’ve been with us from the beginning as a supporter of our record-breaking Kickstarter campaign, or you’ve become a part of our community along the way, thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you — and we can’t wait to create great things together into the future.

Here’s to shortening the distance from concept to creation.

What can you expect now that Pocket NC Company is officially Penta Machine Company?

As a small-but-growing team of creative problem-solvers, talented hard workers, and open-minded thinkers, we value curiosity, collaboration, and perfection in the details. We treat our distributors and consumers — fellow engineers, machinists, tinkerers, and designers — with a mindset of mutual respect. And we work hard to provide the best possible ongoing service after the sale. We don’t just build machines — we build relationships. And we wouldn’t be here without your support. Thank you!

Why “Penta?”

5-axis machining is our bread and butter. It’s a key part of what makes our products the most power-packed, user-friendly CNC machines of their size. We wanted to capture the spirit of 5-axis capabilities in our new name.

What does the rebrand mean for the Pocket NC line and Kinetic Control software?

Penta will continue to produce the Pocket NC V2 machines and accessories, and our Kinetic Control will continue to receive software updates.

When is the bigger machine coming out?

Details coming soon — we promise, it’s going to be GOOD. Look for us at IMTS 2022 in Chicago!

What else is new?

Our website has a new look and a few new features — part of our ongoing commitment to creating the best possible user experiences, before and after the sale. Take a cruise around the new site!

As Penta Machine Company, we look forward to providing you with the same or better level of service and professionalism you’ve experienced in the past. We would love to connect with you about any questions, thoughts, or requests about our new brand and website — and we’ll accept compliments, too. :)
